Job Summary:
The Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and availability of rotating machinery within the plant or facility including Gas and Steam Turbines, Aeroderivative Engines, Gas Compressors and Industrial Pumps. Identifying and mitigating equipment-related risks, performing root cause analysis of failures, and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. The role plays a critical part in improving equipment lifecycle, reducing downtime, and supporting plant operations through data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, analyze, and enhance the reliability of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, fans, gearboxes, and motors.
- Develop and implement reliability improvement strategies based on performance data and failure analysis.
- Lead and support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for rotating equipment failures.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to ensure effective maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Develop and maintain critical equipment lists, equipment health monitoring systems, and maintenance KPIs.
- Support condition monitoring efforts including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and acoustic emission testing.
- Recommend and implement design modifications or upgrades to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Prepare technical reports, reliability assessments, and equipment performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards during maintenance and engineering activities.
- Support commissioning and start-up of new rotating equipment, ensuring best practices are followed.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for rotating machinery in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in rotating equipment reliability within the oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or heavy industry sectors.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards (API, ISO, ASME) related to rotating machinery.
- Experience with condition monitoring tools and analysis (vibration analysis, laser alignment, etc.).
- Proficiency in reliability tools such as RCA, FMEA, RCM, and statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with CMMS (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and data analysis software.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CMRP, Vibration Analyst) are a plus.
