Location: Al-Hartha Power Station, Basra, Iraq
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Al-Hartha Power Station in Basra. The ideal candidate must hold a degree in Electrical Engineering and have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in electrical systems within power generation facilities. This role requires strong technical knowledge in electrical equipment installation, testing, protection, commissioning, and operation. Familiarity with generators, transformer systems, excitation systems, circuit breakers, and other high- and low-voltage equipment is essential.
The selected candidate will play a key role in supervising electrical installations, conducting system testing, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and supporting the successful completion of electrical activities up to the reach load phase.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and understand generator and excitation system documentation for installation, dismantling, assembly, testing, protection, commissioning, and operation.
- Review and interpret transformer technical documentation for construction, testing, protection, commissioning, and operation.
- Supervise the dismantling, installation, maintenance, and testing of generator systems, including the seal oil and cooling systems.
- Oversee the removal and installation of electrical panels (6.6 kV and 0.4 kV).
- Supervise the installation and configuration of new panels for generator protection, automatic voltage regulators (AVR), measuring equipment, and seal oil operation.
- Enforce implementation of the electrical work schedule and compliance with the approved quality and safety plan.
- Inspect and verify all electrical components and materials installed at the turbine and boiler sites, as well as those in the warehouse yard.
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel to manage and verify inventory of all electrical materials.
- Develop and review specialized technical specifications for electrical equipment to be supplied by the company.
- Ensure all electrical activities comply with applicable standards and are executed safely and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering within the power generation sector.
- Extensive knowledge of power generation systems, including generators, excitation systems, transformers, circuit breakers (6.6 kV and 0.4 kV) and Switch gears.
- Proficient in electrical testing, protection systems, commissioning, and operation according to industry standards.
- Candidates residing in Basra are strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of internet-based communication and coordination tools.
- Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English (spoken and written).
- Experience with specialized electrical testing procedures for generators, motors, transformers, and both medium and low-voltage circuit breakers.
